I would enjoy spending the night there again but would not seek it out as a destination.
Note: the water is actually turned off in mid-October. This means that the only restrooms are portable toilets and there is no way to refill up your canteens. (It's important to read the fine print!)
Very small, just a few sites but really good. Camp host was great.
Affordable and accessible campsite. My only critiques are that the campsites are extremely close together (our neighbors packed up and left before 4 AM and it was very disruptive), and the site is a pretty long distant from the Blue Ridge Parkway and any other trailheads. Because of the winding roads, it's not feasible to walk along the road from the campsite to any of the surrounding trailheads. The owner/manager is very nice and provides affordable firewood and helpful information for guests. There was a fair mix of both primitive and RV camping during our visit.
This camp ground is like a back woods "rest stop". There are about 10 primitive sites. There is potable water available. Sites have fire rings. There is a bathroom but no showers. During the day you can hear the occasional gun shot from the near by firing range. The sound of the creek is also audible from the camp sites ( and that helps me sleep as a fan addict ). Fire wood can be purchased. There is a swimming hole up stream just past the bridge. The water is cold even in August. The road is visible from the camp sites, but traffic during the day is minimal, and it's almost non-existent during the night.
